Lester Chan’s WordPress Plugins

Here is my July 2008 WordPress plugins update containing all my 15 WordPress plugins. All of them should work on WordPress 2.5 as well as WordPress 2.6. It is not tested for any version below that.

In general, most of the updates are bug fixes. These updates in theory should be able to work till WordPress 2.7 when it comes out end of this year.

My new semester will begin on 2nd week August 2008, and hence I will be busy with my school work. So no updates to my plugins will be out till the end of this year unless it is a critical bug or a security issue.

Here is the second and final wave of my June 2008 plugins update containing the remaining 4 plugins. All of them should work only on WordPress 2.5. It is not tested for any version below that.

The most general noticeable change would be the path to the plugin is now fixed. Previously it was nested in another folder and I got several hate mails because of that. Since the path problem has been solved, the Automatic Plugin Upgrade should work in theory.

I have completed whatever I need to code for the remaining 4 plugins for Wave 2 release.

WP-Ban and WP-DBManager basically undergo only cosmetic changes to suite WordPress 2.5 layout.

I have added a few minor additions to WP-PostViews. The changes are documented in the Changelog tab in the readme.html file include in the zip

The plugin which undergo the most changes is WP-DownloadManager. It is the longest changelog that I have ever done. I also added a new search feature into WP-DownloadManager. You can see it in action in the Downloads Page.

As promised, I have release updates to 12 of my plugins and added 2 new plugins. All of them are compatible with WordPress 2.3 but not all of them are backward compatible with WordPress 2.1 or 2.2.

The 2 new plugins are WP-DownloadManager and WP-PluginsUsed. As the name of the plugins suggest, WP-DownloadManager simply enhanced your WordPress by adding a simple download manager to it. WP-PluginsUsed will displays both active and inactive plugins that you are using in your WordPress blog.

I needed help in testing WP-DBManager 2.11 automatic backup feature. This feature works on this site but it can’t email a backup database to my email address because simply the backup file is too big (around 10MB). For those users which have a smaller database, I need help from you guys in testing this particular feature of the automatic backup.

Here is the changelog for WP-DBManager 2.11:
Version 2.11 (01-06-2007)

• NEW: Sort Database Backup Files By Date In Descending Order
• NEW: Added Repair Database Feature
• NEW: Automatic Scheduling Of Backing Up And Optimizing Of Database

All of them should be finalized unless there is a last minute bug. I am testing WP-DBManager automatic scheduling of backing up of database, so far so good.
